Science lessons are delivered weekly in our specialist science lab and pupils are assessed against key perfomance indicators (KPIs) for each area of learning.
Why is the teaching of science important for primary aged children?
Children are naturally curious. Science at Cooks Spinney nurtures this curiosity and allows them to ask questions and develop the skills they need to answer those questions.
Our aim is to ensure that all pupils:
- 1Develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
- 2Develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them.
- 3Are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
