SEND Co-Educator Recieves Honour From King Charles III
Posted: 23rd June 2025A MEMBER of the local school community was recognised by his Majesty the King after more than three decades of service.
Susan Mapp, who works as a SEND Co-Educator at Cooks Spinney Primary Academy was awarded a BEM for services to Special Educational Needs by King Charles III, as part of his birthday honours.
Ms Mapp spoke of how honoured she was to receive the award: “I have worked in classrooms as a one-to-one and Teaching Assistant, but the last few years I have been a SEND Co-Educator supporting students in many ways across the school, whether it's in the classroom, playground, dining hall or learning hub. I have enjoyed my time working at Cooks Spinney Primary and Nursery with many colleagues and pupils past and present, making some wonderful memories.”
Jess Farrell, Acting Head of School, said: “We are incredibly proud of Sue for receiving the BEM from His Majesty the King. Sue has been a longstanding and deeply valued member of our school community, dedicating herself tirelessly to the care and wellbeing of all our pupils, especially some of our most vulnerable children. This recognition is a true reflection of her amazing service.”
