We have many exciting things planned this term in Pixie class. Our first topic in Summer 1 will be 'Our Furry Freinds'. In this topic, we will be looking at a variety of different animals, including pets, farm animals and jungle animals! We have a very exciting visit planned from Ark Farm on Friday 17th May. In Summer 2 our topic is 'In the Garden!' We will be focusing on minibeasts and plants! We will begin our transitions for those moving up to Reception.
We will also be planning activities based around the children’s interests.
P.E
Pixie class are excited to begin P.E lessons this term with Mr Defoe. Our P.E lessons will be every Wednesday starting from the 17th April.
Library Books
Once a week your child will have the opportunity to select a library book to take home and read. These books will be changed every Friday.
Clothing
Please ensure that your child has appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather. Nursery use the outdoor area in all weathers, therefore please ensure your child has a waterproof coat. We have welly boots available for the children to wear in the wet weather.
Please ensure that your child has a spare change of clothes at nursery, including underwear and socks. All items of clothing should be named.
Tapestry
At Cooks Spinney we use an online learning journal called Tapestry, through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). On it, we record observations, comments and photos to show your child’s progress throughout their time in our EYFS, this complements the other forms of observing and assessing that take place.
With Tapestry, you are able to access your child’s learning journal from a computer or mobile device at any time. Email notifications are sent out to inform you when new observations have been added. This will allow you to keep up to date with your child’s progress, and see what they are doing at school. We also encourage you to share evidence from home to contribute to your child’s journal.
You can view your child’s learning journal via https://tapestryjournal.com or by downloading the ‘Tapestry’ App on mobile devices.
If you have any questions, please come and speak to a member of the Nursery team.
