Nursery - Pixies
Autumn Term 2020
Welcome to Nursery!
For any nursery enquiries, please email us on email@example.com or call on 01279 437590.
Our sessions are as followed:
During the first half term at nursery our focus is getting the children happy and settled into nursery routine. We have lots of fun and exciting learning opportunities for the children both indoors and outside in our garden area. As the children begin to settle into the nursery our first focus topic is ‘Get to know me.’ During the first few weeks we will be focusing on getting to know each other, learning about our likes and dislikes, feelings and emotions and our families.
As we move on throughout the first half term our focus will be ‘Colour’. We will be exploring a variety of different texts relating to the topic such as ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see?’ and ‘Elmer’.
In the second half term, we will be focusing on Nursery Rhymes. Each week we will introduce a new nursery rhyme and provide exciting activities relating to each different rhyme. For each rhyme we will be learning the Makaton signs to sign and sing along. We also have many different celebrations this half term, include Guy Fawkes Night, Diwali, and Christmas!
Please ensure that your child has appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather. Nursery use the outdoor area in all weathers, therefore please ensure your child has a waterproof coat. We have welly boots available for the children to wear in the wet weather.
Please ensure that your child has a spare change of clothes at nursery, including underwear and socks. All items of clothing should be named.
At Cooks Spinney we use an online learning journal called Tapestry, through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). On it, we record observations, comments and photos to show your child’s progress throughout their time in our EYFS, this complements the other forms of observing and assessing that take place.
With Tapestry, you are able to access your child’s learning journal from a computer or mobile device at any time. Email notifications are sent out to inform you when new observations have been added. This will allow you to keep up to date with your child’s progress, and see what they are doing at school. We also encourage you to share evidence from home to contribute to your child’s journal.
You can view your child’s learning journal via https://tapestryjournal.com or by downloading the ‘Tapestry’ App on mobile devices.
If you have any questions, please come and speak to a member of the nursery team.
