Nursery - Pixies

Spring Term 2020

Welcome to Pixie class.

Our sessions are as follows:

AM- 8:30-11:30

This Spring we have lots of new and exciting learning opportunities coming up for your children. Our focus over the next half term is Nursery Rhymes. We will be focusing on six different nursery rhymes, one per week. Throughout this topic, we will be learning the rhymes and Makaton signs for each of the rhymes. With each rhyme, there will be a variety of different activities to explore focused around it. For example, we will be starting with ‘Incy Wincy Spider.’ Focusing on rhyming, learning about spiders and creating spiders! We also have an exciting visit from a Pantomime on Monday 13th January. After half-term, we will then be focusing on Transport. Each week we will focus on a different mode of transport.

This term we will be beginning to change into our PE kits for PE sessions, and will be learning to change with support. Please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school.

Library Books

Every week your child will be sent home with a reading book to share with you. These will be changed every Monday.

Please ensure that your child has appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather. Nursery use the outdoor area in all weathers, therefore please ensure your child has a waterproof coat. We have welly boots available for the children to wear in the wet weather.

Please ensure that your child has a spare change of clothes at nursery, including underwear and socks. All items of clothing should be named.

50 Things to do before you’re 5

We are continuing to use our 50 things books and have enjoyed seeing all the evidence you have provided in your child’s book. We will be continuing to fill in the books and complete more of the 50 challenges. This is a great way to support the development of your child’s personal, social and emotional development. The books will be sent home during each school holiday. You can provide evidence within the book or by posting onto tapestry.

We have completed our first term of using Tapestry and we hope that you are enjoying it! We have loved seeing all of the photos that you have shared with us and hope you have enjoyed sharing experiences between home and school.

Please continue to share any special experiences that your child has. It is a fantastic way for us to work together and the children enjoy sharing their photos with the class.

If you are having any problems accessing your account, please come and speak to Miss Mead.
