Nursery - Pixies
Summer Term 2023
Hello and Welcome to Pixie Class!
We are now taking applications for September 2023. This is for children born between 1st September 2019- 31st August 2020. For more information, please email us on nurseryadmin@bmatcooksspinney.org.uk or call 01279 437590.
Our sessions are as follows:
AM: 8:30-11:30
PM: 12:30-3:30
This term we have many exciting things planned around our topics! This half term we will be learning all about animals from different habitiats. The children will look at pets, farm animals, jungle animals and sea creatures! In the second half term our topic will be 'In The Garden.' The children will be exploring minibeasts and growing. We will be focussing on childrens interests and basing our learning around this.
P.E
We are very excited to begin our P.E lessons this term! Our P.E lessons will be every Tuesday.
Read, Write, Inc
This term we will begin to teach Read, Write, Inc phonics during our daily sessions. Here are some videos that will give you some more information about RWI and how you can support your child’s learning at home:

Library Books
Once a week your child will have the opportunity to select a library book to take home and read. These books will be changed every Friday.
Clothing
Please ensure that your child has appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather. Nursery use the outdoor area in all weathers, therefore please ensure your child has a waterproof coat. We have welly boots available for the children to wear in the wet weather.
Please ensure that your child has a spare change of clothes at nursery, including underwear and socks. All items of clothing should be named.
Tapestry
At Cooks Spinney we use an online learning journal called Tapestry, through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). On it, we record observations, comments and photos to show your child’s progress throughout their time in our EYFS, this complements the other forms of observing and assessing that take place.
With Tapestry, you are able to access your child’s learning journal from a computer or mobile device at any time. Email notifications are sent out to inform you when new observations have been added. This will allow you to keep up to date with your child’s progress, and see what they are doing at school. We also encourage you to share evidence from home to contribute to your child’s journal.
You can view your child’s learning journal via https://tapestryjournal.com or by downloading the ‘Tapestry’ App on mobile devices.
If you have any questions, please come and speak to a member of the Nursery team.
