Year 3 - Ducks and Otters

AUTUMN term 2024

We hope you have all had a lovely Summer break.  We are looking forward to teaching your children this year.

English

In English this term we will be reading 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes and 'Beowulf,' retold by Rob Lloyd Jones.

Maths

In Maths we are going to work on place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

 

Curriculum

History

We will be learning about 'Ancient Britain' next half term.

Geography

We will be studying 'World Explorers' (Autumn 1) and 'Rivers and coasts' (Autumn 2). 

Religious Education

We will be studying Judaism this half term.

Music

To be announced.

In Science, we will be investigating light (Autumn 1) and forces and magnets (Autumn 2)

 

P.E.

P.E. takes place for

Ducks - Monday and Thursday 

Otters -Monday and Wednesday .

Your child must come to school in correct P.E. kit on these days. Please see the school website for more information regarding the P.E. kit requirements. If your child has their ears pierced, they will be required to either take the earrings out, or cover them with tape, for the lesson. Please remember that Cooks Spinney only allows small stud earrings in school.

 

Art and Spanish will be taught by specialist teachers each week.

 

Homework

Children are expected to read to an adult, practise their tables on Times Tables Rockstars and learn their weekly spellings.  There will also be a termly project to complete.  Please check on Class Dojo for more details.
