Year 3 - Ducks and Otters
We hope you have all had a lovely half term and are ready to get stuck back into Year 3!
In PSHE, we will be concentrating on how to be a good friend. We will be discussing why friendship is important, and who to turn to when we need advice.
In History we will be becoming archaeologists to learn about Ancient Britain. We will explore how life changed for people from the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
In Music, we will be introduced to glockenspiels and discover how to use them to produce rhythms and songs. We will listen to different styles of music and discuss our favourites.
In Science, we will be investigating Forces and Magnets. We will be learning what forces are and how we can work scientifically to see them in action.
P.E. takes place for Year 3 on Mondays and Wednesdays. Your child must come to school in correct P.E. kit on these days. Failure to have the correct kit is likely to result in them not being able to participate in the lesson. Please see the school website for more information regarding the P.E. kit requirements. If your child has their ears pierced, they will be required to either take the earrings out, or cover them with tape, for the lesson. Please remember that Cooks Spinney only allows small stud earrings in school.
As you may be aware, Cooks Spinney has adopted an online homework policy. Your child’s Mathletics and Spelling Shed homework will be set on Fridays. We encourage children to read with an adult at least three times per week to build up their vocabulary and comprehension skills. Children will be given a reading book from our class library. Finally, children are reminded to continue TTRS practise at home.
If you have any questions, or would like to have a chat with any of the Year 3 team, please do not hesitate to be in touch.
