Year 3 - Ducks and Otters
Summer Term 2023
We hope you have all had a lovely week off and are ready to get stuck back into our final half term of Year 3!
Curriculum
In History, we will be learning about Important World Individuals. We will be discussing the stories of Malala Yousafzai, Albert Einstein, and Martin Luther King Jr.
In RE, we will be exploring Christianity. We will learn about some of the key people and beliefs within this world religion.
In PSHE, we will be concentrating on why we should keep active and and sleep well. We will be discussing how exercise benefits us; how to build good sleep hygiene routines; and who can advise us on how to make choices for a healthy lifestyle.
In Science, we will be investigating Animals including Humans. We will be learning what a balanced diet can look like; what the different bones are that make up our skeleton; and why muscles are important.
P.E.
P.E. takes place for Ducks and Otters on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Your child must come to school in correct P.E. kit on these days. Failure to have the correct kit is likely to result in them not being able to participate in the lesson. Please see the school website for more information regarding the P.E. kit requirements. If your child has their ears pierced, they will be required to either take the earrings out, or cover them with tape, for the lesson. Please remember that Cooks Spinney only allows small stud earrings in school.
Homework
As you may be aware, Cooks Spinney has adopted an online homework policy. Your child’s Mathletics and Spelling Shed homework will be set on Tuesdays. We encourage children to read with an adult at least three times per week to build up their vocabulary and comprehension skills. Children will be given a reading book from our class library. Finally, children are reminded to continue TTRS practise at home.
If you have any questions, or would like to have a chat with any of the Year 3 team, please do not hesitate to be in touch.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Mival, Mrs Parker-McGee and Ms Murray
