Nursery - Pixies
Welcome to Pixie class!
Our sessions are as followed:
As the children begin their first term in nursery, we are very excited for the year ahead and hope the children have great fun this year. Our very first topic is ‘Get to know me.’ Within this topic, we focus on building relationships and developing an understanding of routine and boundaries within the class. We will be learning all about each other, looking at what makes us different from each other, what is special to us and, most importantly, developing friendship. We will also be looking at our families, feelings, and emotions. During this topic we will be painting self-portraits, exploring the home corner, reading a variety of different books linking to our topic and most importantly getting to know each other. We will be focusing on turn taking and listening and attention through the use of circle time, games and play. As well as working on independence.
Moving on from our ‘Get to know me’ topic, we will be looking at colour. Exploring many different messy activities, learning our colours and exploring colour mixing. Then as we enter Autumn 2, our topics will be based around the children’s interests.
As the weather is now beginning to get colder, we ask that your child has appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather. Nursery use the outdoor area in all weathers, therefore please ensure your child has a waterproof coat. If your child comes to school wearing welly boots, please ensure they have their school shoes to change into.
Please ensure that your child has a spare change of clothes at nursery, including underwear and socks.
This year we have begun using Tapestry for our online learning diaries. Please ensure you have activated your account to receive regular updates about what your child has been doing. You will have been sent an activation link to the email you have provided us. We would love for you to also share your own observations from home on your child’s diary. If you have any issues accessing your account, please come and speak to Miss Mead.
