Year 3 - Ducks and Otters

Spring 2019

This half term our topic in year 3 is Unknown Worlds – a geography based topic. We will be looking at coral reefs, deserts, space and more.

As readers we will explore newspapers. Please continue to read regularly with your child at home!

As writers we will be writing newspaper articles and learning about the vocabulary and grammar used to convey an appropriate message.

As mathematicians we will focus on measure and fractions. Pupils will learn different units of measure and how to use them, whilst also learning how to find fractions of amounts. Please continue to help your child become fluent in their times tables.

As scientists we will be exploring forces.

As explorers, we will be learning about how people effect the environments (unknown worlds) that we will be looking at.

PE lessons will take place on Monday’s and Tuesday’s (Otters class) and Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s (Ducks Class).  Please ensure pupils have their full P.E kit (tracksuit is advised during the cold months) and trainers to run in.

The homework will be given out on a Thursday and will be expected back in on Wednesday, the following week (unless otherwise stated). Homework will be set via Mathletics and Reading Eggspress. Please ensure that your child logs on to complete it. Homework club is available each week on a Friday (3.15-4.15), to attend, your child must sign up in the office each week. Children should continue to read on Reading Eggspress.

Finally, we would like you to thank you for your support and remind you that should you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Mr Wildig and Mrs Hooper
