Sponsored Bike Ride

Sponsored Bike Ride

Posted: 6th July 2017
On Monday, 23 children from Burnt Mill, Little Parndon, Cooks Spinney, Freshwaters and Roydon accompanied by 7 adults, both staff & parents, cycled the 25 miles from Harlow down to the Olympic Park, Stratford.

The children cycled amazingly well and very safely along the towpaths on the route and although there were a few scrapes, stings (& Indie's pedal snapped off and had to be towed for the last part of the journey), we all finally made it to our destination. The ride took about 4 hours in all, not helped by cycling into the wind along the river Lea which was hard going for many of the children. At the Olympic Park, the children saw the iconic Velodrome and got a chance to look inside the indoor cycling track which was very impressive.

Then we piled the bikes onto 2 trains for the return journey to Harlow.

All the children will receive certificates to show their sponsors before collecting the sponsorship money. We hope the money we raise will go towards buying a new minibus for the Trust (a much easier, though less enjoyable, way to travel!)

Thanks for all your support to allow the children (& parents) to have this fantastic experience. Thanks also to those parents and Ms Pearce from Cooks Spinney for their help on the ride.

See photos attached.
