YEAR 1 - SQUIRRELS AND FROGS

Summer Term

Welcome back after the Easter break, we are looking forward to the summer term and all the exciting learning that we have planned. 

English

The children will be looking at a selection of animal poems during their Rad Reading sessions. 

The phonics test will take place during June.

Maths

In Maths, we are learning about multiplication and division as well as fractions and time. 

We are following a Mastery approach when teaching Maths. This focuses on deepening the children’s understanding of mathematical concepts by using concrete, pictorial and numerical resources.

Science – Animals and plants

History – Great Fire of London

PSHE- Looking after each other and the world

P.E                                                                                                        

Squirrels Class have P.E on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Frogs class have P.E on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Homework

Homework will be set on Wednesdays via Dojo.

We will send home book bag books as well as the storybooks children have read in school. They include many of the same reading activities that we use in class and include parent guidance. Please ensure that these books stay in the plastic provided and come to school every day.

Library books will be changed in class on a weekly basis. These books are for you to read to your child 

We encourage that children read every day at home and please record this in their reading records.
