Ten widths of a swimming pool, five laps of a playground on a bike and a run around a school field saw pupils become triathletes. Pupils from primary schools within the BMAT group of schools in Harlow competed for the third year in a triathlon. Full story https://t.co/LSKkoB90hB https://t.co/DazpvIChyN

Year 5 - Adders and Foxes

Spring 2019

Welcome back to what we hope was a lovely Christmas holiday! Please note the updated information needed to continue making this year as successful as possible.

This half term our topic is Space. This topic is linked into our Science curriculum which will give the children a double helping of all things Space related.

After the half term break, our next topic will be Africa.  More information will follow closer to the time.

Year 5 P.E. days continue to be:.

Foxes: Monday’s and Tuesday’s

Adders: Tuesday’s and Thursday’s

Your child must have their P.E. kit on these days. Failure to have it is likely to result in them not being able to participate in the lesson. In addition, children will not be able to participate if they do not have the correct P.E. kit. Please see the school website for more information on the P.E. kit requirements. If your child has their ears pierced, they will be required to either take out the earrings or cover them with tape for the lesson. Please remember Cooks Spinney only allows small stud earrings in school.

Year 5 children will be Swimming this half term on Thursdays.  Please ensure your child brings their swimming kit on these days.  A reminder that boys are not allowed “baggy” swim trunks and girls need to wear a one-piece bathing suit.  A reminder that children with long hair need to wear an appropriate swimming hat (Goggles are optional).

Homework and Spellings

As you may be aware, Cooks Spinney has adopted an online homework policy.  Your child’s Mathletics, Reading Eggs & Spellings will still be assigned on Thursdays.  If you do not have access to the internet at home, an after-school homework club held on Fridays will be commencing soon.  More information will be provided when it is up and running.

Any queries please don’t hesitate to ask on of the Year 5 team.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Beaumont, Mr Lucas and Mrs Whitbread
